Rolling In The Deep

I had always preferred Piano / Cello version of any songs.
I love Jon Schmidt. I love him ever since I heard of his Love Story vs Viva La Vida. Beats every other version of this song out there.

This was on my playlist the whole day. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did.

You & I

Warms me up.

Blew My Mind.

Office air-cond is cold enough, but air is too stagnant.

So I bought this USB fan for $10. Not too big wind but good enough for now.

Meh

You know how cartoons always show slipping on banana skin?

I slipped on banana and fell front (but not completely on the floor) in the mall today ;( The mall is soooooo crowded there's people walking left right center front back everywhere! And I'm the ONLY ONE that walks right straight into the banana. And you think this only happens in cartoons?

I went to the bakery in the mall, and thought long and hard whether I should buy the small bun which is S$1.40. So expensive! But I'm always VERY hungry in the morning so I have no choice but buy since it's late and other bakeries are closed. I bought and went to cut my fringe. Walked back and saw the 'ALL BUNS AT S$1' sign at the bakery. Err..it's only less than 10 mins.

I walked out of the mall to the bus stop. From far I saw my bus #109 at the bus stop so I did my 100m sprint so I don't have to wait 15 mins for the next bus. I ran and ran and ran with my bun on my right hand and the takeaway Teh C hot on my left hand. There was nobody going up and down the bus, but thankfully the driver saw me running so he waited. I ran closer and closer then reach the bus door to realize it's 1-FIVE-9 NOT 1-ZERO-9. Err. o_O. Then I waved my hand to give the 'I'm not going up' sign. He must be thinking why I so sohai.

And my newly bought socks are so cheapo it not only leaves black stains all over my toenails, but it also tore apart. Today is the 1st time I wore it since I bought last weekend!

Wu siao bor! Buy toto 5 mil last week but never zong tau pio. but everyday I go through random things like this!

Gurney Drive Singapore

I woke up with an intense craving for Penang food. Afterall I've left PG for a good 1.5 years and I can barely remember the taste of that succulent prawn in a good plate of Char Kuay Teow. To be honest, I didn't really order CKT when I was in PG. It was my last choice. Either when all the other stalls are closed or the only time would be in Newlane.

So I started my quest to look for Singapore's best Penang food, not putting too much hope.

1st stop: Gurney Drive! Penang restaurants in every part of the world are named Gurney Drive. Do they know the REAL gurney drive serves the worst PG food in PG wtf? It's a tourist trap. Don't ever go there if you visit Penang. Don't say I never warn you.

I haven't had Char Kuay Teow for soooooooo long I forgot they have taugeh inside. Sigh. Taste is heavenly compared to other Singapore Char Kuay Teow. Warning #2: You'll see the FAMOUS Lai Heng Char Kuay Teow everywhere in Singapore. Stay 10 miles away!!! It's horrible and all you can taste is just black soy sauce. So this, THIS PLATE, is soooooo good but not good enough if compared with...hmm...Newlane. It's lacking of that 'Wok Hei'. The whole plate's too 'clean'. Not that I'm complaining. This is good enough for Singapore standard.

I also ordered Penang Rojak. Nothing to shout about. It's a tad bit too sweet for my liking.

Interior of the restaurant.

Verdict? Good enough though price is a bit steep. S$6 for a plate of Char Kuay Teow. Prawn Mee and the other noodles are around the price. $3.90 for Penang Rojak. S$1.90 for Iced Tea. Portion is decent. In fact, I couldn't finish the Char Kuay Teow. It's equivalent to 2 plates of Newlane Char Kuay Teow.

Not sure if it's the best yet in SG till I tried the rest!

Open Water Diver Certification I

I've wanted to take my open water license since...5 years ago. It was delayed because one course is almost RM1.5K or so? But I decided this year I either have to climb KK (which I wanted to do since 5 years ago too wtf) or go underwater. When Stephen send me the details, we booked it without thinking twice. Nola who am I kidding. Of course I thought about it for weeks before I decided to spend the money.

1st class was nothing much. We were shoved into a room and watched DVD for 2 hours then we took the 1st section quiz and that's about it. The instructor told us to go home and finish the rest of 5 sections and the next time we see her would be for the final theory exam.

Final exam was easy peasy lemon squeezy. haha lame. In fact, I did not read the whole book, just the quick notes and the DVDs. Those are enough for you to understand almost everything about underwater and the scuba equipments. I finished the exam pretty fast, and then stayed there taking photo of him who's still hard at work.

Right after final theory exam, we jumped right into the pool, for a 200m swim and 10 minutes floating test. If you can't swim, fret not, as there's a 2nd option where you can swim 300m with the fins, snorkel and mask.

If you're going to buy your own wet suit, then remember to get the long sleeves ones. I wore this during my swimming pool sessions, but I had the short sleeves ones when I go to the sea and it's horrible! It leaves tan lines around my elbow and knee area :(

After we suit up, we were given a brief training on each piece of scuba equipment, then trained to assemble the BCD, regulator and the tank.

I was with a group of 4 guys and each swimming pool session was about 3 hours or so for 2 days continuously. I fumbled with my equipments and kind of failed the CESA training too. CESA requires me to continuously exhale and swim for 9 metres. The instructor will want to hear the "Ahhhhhhhhh" sound we make when we exhale to make sure we didn't hold our breath. I had to do this twice in the pool and even then, the 2nd time I barely pass.

The other skill trainings are piece of cake. As long as you can master neutral buoyancy, naturally everything else becomes very straightforward.

To me, swimming pool session is fun and interesting since it's our 1st experience breathing through the regulator and tank underwater. BUT I had to hold my pee for the whole 2 hours training session underwater and it's awful! After I finished both days of swimming pool sessions, I have trouble peeing.

I'm serious! I couldn't pee normally for a week after that. When I was sitting down, I didn't have the urge to pee. Right after I stood up, the next 5 seconds, the urge to pee came so quickly that I didn't have time to even run to the toilet. It was beyond horrible. I thought I kena don know what disease and someone told me it's Urinary Tract Infection or something.

Anyway it recovered after 1.5 weeks. I asked around if anyone else experience the same problem but everyone told me they just pee in the water!

After the confined water training, we head to Perhentian island for 2 more dives and our final exam! This time, I learnt my lesson and peed into the sea too HUAHUAUAHUHUA

Happy Mid-Autumn 2011

Mid-Autumn was one of my most awaited festival when I was a kid. The whole family will hang out at the front yard, my dad will be brewing his good cup of Chinese tea, my mum preparing the mooncakes, and all 4 of us will string lines of lanterns while lighting rows and rows of candles on the front porch. The rest of the night spent protecting burning lanterns wtf and we'll each hold one paper lantern using the branch from our house's Rambutan tree and then walk around the neighborhood greeting other kids.

Then my eldest sister left for her studies. Then my brother left for his studies. Then my other sister grew up and lost interest wtf. Years following that, I light candles and hang lanterns all by myself. The disadvantage of being the youngest in the family.

My 5 year old nephew's Angry Bird lantern. Kids nowadays mostly have the electric lanterns with music unlike our traditional paper lantern with the same pattern.

All of us just sat there and my mum's the only gung-ho one who brings him around the park.

He enjoyed it nonetheless.

I don't fancy the usual brown color traditional mooncake. I got sick of eating the same thing every year. Now I only eat the Shanghai Mooncake or the Di Huang Su (I think it's written as 帝皇酥) which is the above with the crispy (usually Yam) skin.

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival Friends!

The Hossan Leong Show

My colleague randomly showed me a brochure one day and asked if I'm interested to go watch this Hassan's show and I'm like huh who's Hassan wtf. His real name is Hossan Leong and he's a Singapore comedian so I said sure why not since everyone's going anyway even though it's S$55 per person.

This is..err..Hassan.

I met up with 7 of them in Drama Center, National Library Building near Bugis Junction. And I'm severely underdressed. Most of the people there are in formal dresses and heels and makeup all over. But then, hmm, it's Singapore. Everyone's always overdressed anyway.

The hall wasn't very big, probably just 30 rows? And few more rows upstairs. We're seated at the 2nd last row but can still see his face clearly.

It's......okay. It's not that I dont think he's funny, it's just that he's not hilarious. But for Singapore standard, good enough lah. If you are not Singaporean, you probably won't be able to catch most of the jokes since it's all making fun of the recent SG General Election, Presidential Election, and the current local issues like foreign talent, domestic helpers, then they made their own version of Iron Chef and So You Think You Can Dance.

It's a good night out but I don't think I'll go for the 4th episode.

Dear Malaysians

Beautiful video. Beautiful message.

Love the background song. It's by a local artist Min'z titled 'For Forgiveness'.

Malaysians really make me laugh sometimes.

"Dear Malaysian :I'm sorry,i always think that Chinese was greedy,Malay was lazy and Indian was drunkard.I shouldn't think this way and please forgive me."

"Dear Ladies.... On behalf of most guys...sorry for staring at your assets."

"sorry, i blame others after farting"

New PC...Not.

2 months ago, my motherboard just decided to die so I bought the lowest end MB I can find.

1 month ago, my graphic card died. I didn't replace it since my MB can provide what I wanted anyway. Which is... watch Funshion wtf.

2 weeks ago my DVD ROM stopped working. Meh -_-. That's fine. I bought an external DVD drive.

Yesterday I came home to a non working desktop! It couldn't power up. So I unplugged the DVD-ROM. Still not working. Took out both the RAM cleaned it and plugged it back. Miraculously it powered up and booted into Windows. But none of the USB ports work. After uninstall everything and reinstall the drivers, most of the USB port work but the same USB port that works for keyboard and mouse could not detect the external HDD. Tried to plug the external HDD into another PC and no problem found. Uninstalled that particular USB port, restarted PC, scanned for hardware changes, reinstall hardware driver, and I can detect the external HDD. I quickly backup all my data in the computer. Right after everything is done, I unplugged the HDD, plug it back, and it couldn't be detected again (until I repeat the whole uninstall driver and reboot and reinstall crap). But that's fine. Since I already backup my data.

Today I came home to a non working USB wireless adapter. Bloody hell. I can stand a non working external HDD but if I can't get online to do my work then it's a big no no! I repeated the whole USB driver crap but nothing works. Rebooted after reinstalling everything. Nothing works. Tried the USB wireless adapter on another PC. Doesn't work. Bugger. Then I downloaded the driver for the adapter that doesn't work for WinXP but I tried it anyway and it works??!! Kanasai betul.

Now I can get online and use my mouse and keyboard. But external HDD still cant be detected until I do the uninstall reinstall yada yada yada.

I'm not the type of person that goes out and buy things even though I already know what I want, at least not until I asked 23482347255625 people about that thing and then still end up thinking whether I should buy it after asking the 23482347255625th person. 90% of the time I end up not buying =(

Dear PC, I know you're 6 years old and has been used extensively for 13 hours daily 7 days a week but please, you know I'm not that techie geek that know how to debug you so please, please stop giving me anymore trouble at least until I get another laptop to replace you ok? Next year ok?

Sigh Out Loud

I realized that whenever I have a lot on my mind then I tend to sigh out loud repeatedly, until I realize I am sighing out loud then I will stop sighing but I will feel very uncomfortable for not sighing when I still have a lot on my mind.
