Krabi - An Unexpected Fun Part I

The title is actually given by Shu coz the trip to Krabi is really an unexpected..ehm.. 'fun'? We planned the trip like almost more than half a year ahead because AirAsia has this discount but end up Step bought the ticket to join us like 1 month before the trip also cheaper than our tickets wtf. AirAsia discounts cannot be trusted wan.

It was back in July when H1N1 is like wide spread so Sim & Grace decided not to go but all of us still go ahead with the plan. I was excited even though I've been travelling and travelling but this is different coz it's so rare we get to travel in a group, maybe only once every 1.5 years or so.

#1 Pey bought masks for everyone. It's an early morning flight from PG->KL.

#2 LSP only wore it in the plane because he say it's easier to spread in the plane than in the open area like airport. I totally agree but dont know why still don't feel like putting on mask.

#3 AirAsia doesn't have free seating anymore. So if you buy your tickets then not necessarily you'll get your seats together in a group. But we're lucky.

#4 In Krabi airport. Forced to put on coz everyone kept saying how dangerous Thailand is. Very unhappy like that wtf.

#5 How? Which side is up which side is down.

#6 Okay try again.

#7 Finally. The whole process I took like 10 photos wtf.

#8 And he had to carry my bags while I put on mask and kept taking photos wahahaha.

#9 Rented a van at the airport to send us to Aree Tara hotel. It took us almost 45 minutes from the airport to the hotel.

#10 The view of the pool from my room.

#11 They lipat the towels into elephant shapes so cute.

#12 The room. I actually quite like the hotel coz it's new and everything's clean. The room is quite decent too. I can't remember the exact price but it's somewhere around RM130 per night I think. We booked the room through Agoda. You can checkout the website. Sometimes they offer pretty good deals.

#13 Counting Baht in the room after we checked in. Almost 50000 baht there I think.

#14 VSoon and LSP room on my right and HuiYien and wife on my left. Shu's and the guys rooms are attached which are right opposite ours.

#15 It was SO HOT the day we arrived so we asked for umbrellas from the hotel reception and each of us has one. A bit wtf right go to Krabi beach town for holiday but takut panas.

#16 After lunch, we walked along the Aonang strip to find travel agencies to arrange our itinerary for the next 3 days. Of course this kind of task we hand to HuiYien la coz he's pro in it and he can talk to the girl until she discount everything and probably follow him home too wtf.

#17 I obviously did not help out. I was outside the travel agency taking photos.

#18 They also obviously are not much help because they went away to buy pancakes. Shu wants to bargain with the woman summore wtf. Many said pancakes in Krabi are nice but so so only la very oily summore.

#19 After we booked the trips, we went around looking for decent spa and COULD NOT FIND A DECENT ONE. Really ha. There's spa everywhere in Bali around RM100 per peson but in Krabi we couldnt' find any. The only one we found is like RM300+++ per person. We ended up outside the spa and Step says this hawker noodle is quite nice but I don't think anyone liked it including myself because you know la, Thai noodles are super salty wan.

#20 This is the hotel that offers the RM300++++ spa. It has huts around RM400 per night or so? But I didn't like it at all because the whole place looks quite dodgy and old. I don't mind smaller rooms but it must be NEW and CLEAN.

#21 All of us.

#22 The next morning. Aree Tara offers buffet breakfast and it's quite okay. Choices aren't that much but the food are decent. They changed the options every morning too so you won't get bored. Shu says we look like we're fighting in this photo and she's right we indeed argued that mroning over some dodgy stuff like how many bottles of mineral water bottle we need to buy for the entire trip WTF.

#23 Gathered in lobby after breakfast around 10am for the van to pick us up for Day 1 sightseeing.

#24 Step and I <3

#25 Half way to the elephant trekking place, the tour guide Somja stopped at one of the houses and told us that she can get us nice fruits because they're in season right now. And she came back into the van with handfuls of rambutans and asked us if we've seen the fruit and tried before or not wtf.

#26 Shu, HuiYien & wife in the biggest elephant.

#27 There're really not much things to look at in the jungle and the most interesting thing is to see the elephant shitting lor. Can you see the asshole or not.

#28 Shit coming out liao. There's photo 3 and 4 to follow up but I lazy to post la heh. The elephant has sistem penghadaman yang bagus coz it really shat a lot.

#29 Then they will stop at one of the river banks and the elephant guides will come down and help you take photos. This is the first time I tried elephant trekking. Quite nice at first but I got SO BORED coz it's really no big deal and nothing much to see.

#30 Like raja waving wtf. and Cheong Siak in front also want to tumpang glamour.

#31 LSP very kepoh he kept turning back to check on everyone else.

#32 You can tell I'm quite bored right.

#33 Our elephant kept stopping and eat and eat and eat and did quite a number of stunts by crashing branches with its trunk and tip toeing to grab some random stuff on the tree. So we're quite happy coz if it didn't do all those things, I'll be even bored. Step then tipped the guide but forgot how much liao.

#34 Their elephant so smart! It actually plucked the flower and handed to them!

#35 Group photo.

#36 After the whole trekking session which is like 45 minutes or so, they will sell you bananas to feed the elephants. Really know how to do business lor coz 95% of the people sure will buy the bananas wan. LSP is in the 5% group hohoho he so smart.

#37 Don't know what he doing. Feed until so got pose wan.

#38 Obviously I'm the first to finish feeding and washed my hand to eat the rambutans. Told you it's the season.

#39 After elephant trekking, they drove another 40 minutes or so to the hot spring. It started rainign at that time but we went down also because it's quite nice to dip in the hot spring when it's raining. We didn't know how long to stay inside and we ended up dipping for 40 minutes or so but then we saw the sign board that said best to dip for only 20 minutes or so wtf. Most of us felt dizzy after we got up and had to lie on the hut to rest for a bit. And I ended up puking. Must be because of the extra 20 minutes.

#40 They drove us to Emerald Pool after Hot Spring which is like 40 minutes away. MOST of the time we spent travelling in the van! Quite torturing actually. We had to walk around 25 minutes from the entrance of the emerald pool to the actual pool and it's RAINING.

#41 Almost everytime we go to the beach or pool we played the same pushing game. And you'd think WeePing is nice to bully coz she's petite like that but you're so wrong man. She's more ganas than anyone you know but let me warn you, don't get into pillow fights with her okay you won't come out alive.

#42 Another usual game. Throwing people around.

#43 They say the pool is haunted.

#44 Believe it now? hohoho Ju-On.

#45 Best pose award.

#46 At night, the tour guide Somja brought us to the night market for dinner. There's all these zap fan stalls in the night market and if you don't have any locals bringing you around, you probably will end up eating in the Thai restaurants around the beach. But let me tell you this. THis is probably the BEST meal I had in Krabi, and so cheap you wouldn't believe it. See the pork on the top right corner? That's extremely spicy but it's SO NICE and you wanted to keep having it even though your tongue can't stand liao. Haih think of it now also I hungry ady.

#47 We asked Somja to bring us to the happening pubs and she brought us to this place and there's probably only 2 occupied tables in the whole place. Krabi people sleeps early, that's all I can say.

#48 Our favourite hang out place. 7-11 is EVERYWHERE in Thailand, not just in Krabi but in Bangkok I noticed 7-11 is everyhwere! And the things are quite cheap too so we went to 7-11 every day when we're in Krabi to grab snacks and food. And Cheong Siak looks like he's gonna kill somebody that night.

Wah...48 photos! phew...You'd be thinking wah Krabi so happening so much things to do and whole day activity is packed right.

Wait till you see Day 2 and 3 and 4. You won't believe it.

U.S.A: Cirque Du Soleil Vegas

If you remember, I'm a BIG BIG fan of Cirque Du Soleil and had been to Kooza back in San Francisco last year.

I'm lucky because my eldest sister sponsored all of us to another Cirque show in Vegas. So we surveyed around and Candy and I decided to go for 'O' in Bellagio.

"O". Inspired by the concept of infinity and the elegance of water's pure form, "O" pays tribute to the beauty of the theatre - from the simplest street performance to the most lavish of operas - where anything is possible and where the drama of life plays itself out before our very eyes. World-class acrobats, synchronized swimmers, divers and characters perform in, on, and above water to create a breathtaking experience. Only at Bellagio, Las Vegas.

#1We bought the tickets few days before the show. The hall is packed so we bought the upper deck seats and it's USD$130 per seat. The 'O' ticket counter is right outside the theatre in Bellagio.

#2 We went to visit the theatre at noon before the show. There're souvenier shop and some deco outside the theatre.

#3 Dad and mum with the Art of Richard MacDonald.

#4 They have all these Richard MacDonald all the way from the entrance of the theatre all the way into the hall.

#5 We had Auntie Anne's opposite Bellagio as dinner. My parents havent tried Pretzel before so we wanted to introduce them coz I think quite nice la but end up they didn't like it at all. They even had trouble finishing 1 pretzel coz it's so not nice like that.

#6 The hall. The Kooza stage last time was 360 means the stage is in the centre and all around are seats. But 'O' is just like 180 deg.

#7 When we reach half an hour before the show starts, the hall is already 80% packed.

#8 This is the hall ceiling. It's O. And when the show starts, people actually come down from the spiral thing. And as usual, there're 2 clowns making jokes before the show starts and in between each scene to keep you entertained while the casts change clothes and change the stage scene. I actually find these clowns quite irritating.

#9 Dad and mum's seat is in front of Candy's.

I have no more photos of the show because we're actually not allowed to bring camera or video cam into the theatre hall.

Overall, I think the show is very impressive with the stage deco and scene change. The stage when opened is like a pool underneath, deep enough for the divers to jump into from many many feets above ground. O, sounds like the french word 'eau', meaning water, is the theme of the show. The swimmers did all the acrobatics in the pool.

Kooza is better in terms of acrobatics because it's more of a classic circus show hence lots of acrobatic performances. But O is different. Some may find the acrobatic very boring but it's a really beautifully-staged show.

The stage Cirque du Soleil created for O could almost be numbered among the show's stars. On minute it's dry land and the next it's all water, deep enough to catch the divers who launch themselves from high up in the stage rigging.

I think dad actually finds it boring. He has been to China and watched all the Chinese acrobatic shows and because O's acrobatic stunts are quite limited, hence he thinks that the China shows are way better. But China show where got stage deco wan...

#10 I wore my newly bought 20 ringgit dress from Thailand hurhurhur.

If you have the chance, I highly recommend you at least go for one of Cirque shows. They have many more in Vegas in different hotels. But I also heard that they're going to do 1 extra show in Singapore. Don't know true or not!
