Resorts World Sentosa - Universal Studios Singapore Part I

Last week, my boss brought all of us to Universal Studios as Q4 gathering. We were really surprised because the last few times, what we did was just the boring stuff a.k.a bowling and forest adventure. Anyway he said it's the last quarter and the other departments have all went to USS and it's about time we go!

We each get 1 McDonald set delivered to our cube for lunch. Not really McD delivery coz it's my colleagues who went to McD to pick up all the sets and hand deliver to us huhuhuh. So they had to use the trolley and pushed all the set in boxes to our cubes and then everyone was just walking around munching on fries and burger.

It takes us around 20 minutes to drive into Sentosa Island and parking was freaking expensive. S$26 per car! Doesn't matter to us because we can claim it but still, S$26???

This was taken the night after when I was in Vivocity opposite the island.

If you're going in groups, it's better to get your ticket early at Resorts World Sentosa website. We went on a Friday so it's S$66 per person. Weekends are S$72 per person. This ticket is valid for 1 day entry, S$5 voucher (you can buy anything in any souvenir shops) and S$5 food voucher only until 7pm. After 7pm, is consider Hollywood Night and it's priced at $5 or something.

I don't know man. I would think twice about going again because the weather is really NOT SUITABLE FOR OUTDOOR PARKS like this at all! Imagine queuing for rides and shows under hot sun sweating like crazy and when you go in the show, the guy sitting next to you stinks like crazy shit?

My experience with Universal Studios Hollywood is back in December 2006 in Los Angeles and mind you, that was winter and we had an awesome time! But this? I was practically sun burnt and all sweaty and uncomfortable. Sigh. But free entrance. I really shouldn't complain.

This USS is a mini version of the real LA Universal Studios. It was really small, a bit unworthy of the S$66. Basically it was divided into

(1) Madagascar
(2) Far far away - Shrek
(3) New York
(4) Sci-Fi City. The biggest Galactica roller coaster is not officially open yet.
(5) Hollywood
(6) Ancient Egypt.

Sounds a lot? Nah! Each park is the mini version. If you walk straight, 5 minutes is more than enough to pass by the whole Madagascar section. You see? So sad.

Anyway my point is if you've been to the LA Universal Studios, I doubt you'll really enjoy this one. All the shows are the exact same one showing and for those new ones, are just simplified versions of what you see in the real deal.

Ok, be right back with Resorts World Sentosa- Universal Studios Singapore Part II !

Disconnect to Connect

I think I am one of the very few people who didn't spend all their available minutes on their iPhone. Even when I first bought it, I didn't use it on the day itself and I didn't start installing apps until a month later. After 6 months of owning it, I don't play any of the iPhone games and my apps are all critical ones like "SG Buses" "Comfort Cab". Well, I tried and I failed. It really couldn't keep me interested for more than...1 minute?

My ringtone was the default ringtone, so was my sms tone and also my alarm clock tone. In fact, all of them are actually the same tone wtf.

One day in office I was happily working when I heard my colleague laughing at Donny. They always say he's damn ah pek and everything he use is very ah pek-ish. So when he got his iPhone and his phone rang with the default ringtone, everybody laughed at him! So I quickly switched mine to vibrate, went home and googled "How to use own song as iPhone ringtone" WTF so I go through the step by step on how to use your own customized song as ringtone. and now I have Jack Johnson as my ringtone *flips hair

Even my 5 year old nephew took my phone and say "ei! why no picture". He was referring to my iPhone wallpaper which is the default grey bubble picture which you get when you upgrade to iOS4.0.

The other day we were hanging out at the cafe and XiaoJun kept taking our photos with Sock's iPhone4. She also used this app which I forgot what name already and combined the photos and this and that. She takes your photo when you're not paying attention so most of them are candids.

Sock has to teach me which app to install so she can transfer her iPhone photos to me. And then after all the transfer completed, she had to teach me where to view the photos wtf. Why am I like that!

So now I have a different wallpaper and I'm finally "IN" now wooooooooooooohooo!

By the way, if you're one of those I-people who are irritating and ignorant towards your surrounding, remember to disconnect to connect!

First of May

When I was in Donny's car today, he was playing this CD and I loved it. They told me it's Olivia Ong, a Singaporean singer. If you watch Little Nyonya, you should know who she is because she sang the theme song for the series.

I came home and downloaded all her songs.

One of my favorite of all times - First of May.

Enjoy!

Joan's Permanent Diaries

What's wrong with me? I just wrote a long entry and decided not to post it. I think I have some issues with being personal nowadays. Long gone are the days I can just rant about work or vent about boyfriend or curse people I despise.

For my anniversary last year, I printed out photos and did a month to month album documenting travels and stuffs with exact dates. I can do that because I blog about almost everything with dates! I can easily browse through my archive to get all these information. This year, I can't. I can't because I have not taken any photos of myself much. And I didnt blog about most of the things I did. No dates. Nothing. I can't come up with anything.

This is my life diary. But the older I get the more I worry how people would judge me from what I write.

But it's really contradicting. You would think what an emo I am right now. But truth is I've never been more excited about life than I am right now. Sometimes I cant wait for tomorrow to come because of what I planned for it. Problem is I'm not comfortable sharing them anymore. I do have a lot in my mind too. Life stress. Like because I'm 28 right now I need to move on to another stage in my life.

As I was tossing and turning around on my bed yesterday night, I realized that I've tried to pursue for the next stage of my life, a bit too hard that, I lost interest. It's scary to finally realize, I do not want it anymore.

Village Park Nasi Lemak

You know HongKies have so many random phrases like 等到蚊都睡 (wait until mosquito also slept . direct translation wtf)......吓到鼻哥窿都无肉啊 (scared until nose also no meat HAHAHA). You get the idea lah.

During the first few months I moved here, I was extremely good food deprived that one day when I was googling online and saw photos of nasi lemak and i was browsing and browsing and browsing and when I came to my senses I realized my mouth is full of saliva nearly drip out..LITERALLY DROOLING!! Like I have to stop looking at the photos to stop salivating aih.

And the other day one of my colleague yawn until... JAW DROP (!!??!!!) in office. SERIOUSLY! He yawned and his jaw DROPPED. So he can't close his mouth and they have to send him to the hospital rightaway to get the jaw screwed back. When I heard of that I couldn't stop laughing but I know it's really bad to be laughing la so kesian but errr...you got friend yawn until jaw drop before meh.....indeed a jaw dropping yawn hahahaha. I really want to know what he's looking at the monitor at that time lol.

Aiyah anyway my point of the entry is to show you my current most favorite NASI LEMAK
not talk about jaw drop. Jaw dropping good nasi lemak that makes me drool hahaha.

Village Park Damansara Uptown. Best nasi lemak in PJ and KL and some say Penang.

Everytime I go to KL I will make sure I make time for this nasi lemak. mad love.

ALWAYS full house. So we had to sit outside. You can either queue up there to choose other stuff like sotong and kerang and udang and lontong and everything else. But if you only want normal fried chicken + egg nasi lemak like me, you can just sit at your table and wait for the waiter. They're pretty efficient.

Petai 1 sudu - RM2.70
Telur Goreng - RM1
Ayam Goreng - RM4.70 (a bit expensive but WORTH EVERY CENT)
Kambing 1 sudu - RM4
Ayam Rendang - RM4

Nasi Lemak Biasa - RM2.50
Nasi Lemak + Ayam Rendang - RM5.50
Nasi Lemak + Daging - RM6.50
etc
etc

The chicken is extra crispy and juicy and the rice has such strong aromatic coconut milk taste omg the photo seriously didn't do the nasi lemak any justice at all! I shall go back next next week and take a better photo okay! Damn fucking addictive.

hehehe show you the end result. I wallop everything in less than 5 minutes wtf nola just joking actually is 6 minutes coz it's sooooooooooooooo good! After we paid, I was complaining how come I can't chew on bones. What a waste to leave the bones there WTF.

I've been there 324987458345 times but I never tried anything else so I can't comment on the daging or sotong or kerang but I heard those are nothing to shout about.

It's right next to the bicycle shop at the corner of the street. If you've never been there, I strongly urge you to go try it out..ONLY if you're a nasi lemak fan though!
