Outdated Phone.

You know your phone is horribly outdated when nobody is selling its cover anymore.

This was my translucent cover. I like that it's invisible, but hate that it only protects half of the iPhone, leaving the half of the sides bare open. I'm a total klutz and I already dropped the phone on the floor more than 5 times. The screen staying put and not cracked is already a miracle but it won't stay that way for long. So I decided to find a better cover.

The only thing I bought from my recent trip to Hong Kong is THIS cover for HKD20. I walked the whole Temple Street and Ladies Market, but all of the stalls are only selling iPhone4 and iPad covers. Finally found this one and only stall selling a few iPhone3 covers. It protects the phone like a good old condom. Comes with these wings at the side but I can deal with the harmless wings. The more I look at it the more I adore it.

But

I have been using this cover for the past 3 days AND IT ANNOYS THE FUCKING HELL OUT OF ME >( I can hardly hold the phone nicely without these stupid wings poking on my palm and it makes typing damn bloody tough!!

Urgh!!!! I swear one day when I get really irritated I will just cut the wings off.

Stay Safe.

One thing I really love about this place is it's very, very safe. It's not just talk and talk. It really has got a proven track record. People jog on the streets, walk here and there and so far everyone I know who stays here say the same thing, that they can walk on quiet streets late at night and don't feel any fear. No thoughts of being robbed or anything even. They don't lock their car doors when they drive, and they leave their valuables in the car. When I told them I used to lock my doors the second I step into my car and carry my laptop everywhere, they laughed at me and ask why i so kua zheong wtf.

Walk on quiet streets at night? C'mon. For someone who lived in Malaysia all her life I honestly find that hard to believe because we all know what happens if girls walk alone at night in KL or wherever or whenever.

Yesterday, someone I know back in Malaysia was robbed, killed and dumped in the drains. Shit happens. All those bizarre news you read daily about robbery, rape, murder, it can happen to you when you least expect it. So, please stay alert and jaga your parents at all times also. It's not safe, and probably never will.

Land of Good Char Kuay Teow.

Last year, I think about Penang a lot. It's like part of me couldn't let go. This year, I think I grew out of it. I don't think about the place much. Even on that Friday morning where I'm supposed to leave for Penang after work, I sighed and grumbled and secretly wished I have the weekend to sleep in and do nothing.

But, driving on that bridge, just being back brings back so many memories. I managed to meet up with the group of people whom I love. And of course, how can I miss the wedding. I've known Kok Wei for almost 7 years and he has helped me so much throughout those years. I'm truly happy for him. Nicole is so sweet and would make a great wife.

I left with a heavy heart on Sunday morning but definitely that's not the end of Penang. On my way back I'm already planning for another trip, this time not for wedding or anything. Just to have a couple of days to hang out there, do nothing, buy my pisang goreng, keropok lekor, eat Kocha taiwanese, have more char kuay teow, newlane hokkien mee, and err....see more of my favorite people on earth haha.

The Long Distance Relationship.

Step & I have been in a long distance relationship for almost 3 years now. There're weak moments where I tell myself I just couldn't do it anymore. It's not easy, that's what I can tell you. It takes hell lot of faith and trust, time and effort, commitment and determination, patience and understanding. But I think we're doing pretty good so far.

I like this short film. It reminds me to savor, appreciate and live in the moment.

We fight a lot. I cry a lot. That's what happens when you don't see each other, only virtually. Each time I lose faith and on the verge of giving up, he manage to talk to me and convince me things are okay and they WILL be okay and he will try to make them okay again. Each time we fight, regardless whose fault, he will definitely call me back, text me back, tell me he wants us to be happy everyday. Every single morning without fail, I get a 'Morning baby' message. Every Single Morning.....despite being overseas, despite having a busy morning, despite having a rough day, despite the fact that we just shouted at each other the night before, despite me giving him a hard time. Without fail.

He does make mistakes. He does make me angry sometimes.

He's not perfect. But he's trying to be, for me.

It's Almost Christmas!

Everybody's favorite season is back.

I have lots of Starbucks mug, and each Christmas I'll buy one candy cane mug. It's becoming like a yearly tradition. But this year I get this tumbler instead for S$17. Cute or what! It has a polar bear at the bottom with one small baby lazing on top of it! The walls are sparkly with snowflakes all over. Initially I wanted to go check out if they're selling my favorite mini bearista but no such luck. Have they stopped producing it??!! You guys know I collect them right? If you see them please let me know!

Can't remember the last time I had a cup of Starbucks though. I don't drink coffee so if I ever go, I usually order Signature Hot Chocolate or Caramel or Ice Blended Chocolate for S$6, probably once in 6 months? A bit overpriced right? Crazy or what! I memang cheapskate so I much prefer the S$1.50 Ya kun or Toastbox.

Orchard road is crowded as hell! Tourists start to flock to the Island for Christmas shopping. Christmas carols in the malls and the Orchard road annual Christmas enchanting deco are mostly up! They haven't light up yet except Tang's so I just snapped one with the iPhone when we walked past, hurrying to H&M wtf. There're performances and body painted human statues along the whole stretch of road. A very noisy Saturday night.

Sometimes I still can't believe I'm actually living in one of the busiest liveliest city already ;)

Modern Family.

Whenever I'm bored out of my mind or having a bad day, I'll hide in the room and watch Modern Family until I'm happy again. And it always does its job! It really does put a smile on the face.

If you haven't, please do watch it NOW! Every episode of this dysfunctional family comedy is usually of the family members bickering at each other, but it always ends with a heartwarming note and family hugs. It's very pleasant to see every episode showing the characters learning to appreciate what they had.

"You're not just making people laugh, you're making them more tolerant."
- Steve Levitan during Emmy's Best Comedy 2011 award acceptance speech

Cup of Life.

Every time dad goes to China he'll come back with containers of tea leaves. The past long weekend I went back home and took the Chrysanthemum fetus flower back. It doesn't really taste like the normal chrysanthemum but it has its own refreshing floral aroma.

Cupcakes take the cake.

Sea Salt & Caramel, Banana Split (banana cake base, madagascar vanilla bean frosting & chocolate fudge sauce with cherry on top), Strawberries & Cream.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm...I'm gobbling up the caramel vanilla cupcake as I'm typing this. Delicious & delightful, like heaven in the mouth ;) I think I've eaten enough cupcakes and it's about time I start baking my own perfect vanilla cupcakes.

Happy holidays everybody!

Favorite Movie.

I like a lot of movies. Forrest Gump, Joy Luck Club, Inglorious Basterds, Transformers, Memoirs of Geisha, Inception and many more.

But if you ask me what my favorite type of movies are, there're only 2 kinds.

1. Movies with killer creatures & monsters.
piranha, jaws, godzilla, primeval, anaconda, you name it. except...king kong. I cannot tolerate that one and I didn't even finish it. The others I can watch them again and again.

2. Movies with aliens.
alien vs predator. abyss. the faculty. district 9. Actually I would list all movies with aliens in it too.

These types of movie usually have crappy storyline and unknown actors with endings we all can guess. But that's OKAY. I'll still watch every one of them!

My favorite movie of all time? No doubt has got to be JURASSIC PARK ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! I've watched it over 200 times I am sure of that. I dreamt of myself running for my life in Jurassic Park countless times (actually if I'm ever caught in that situation, I'll commit suicide instead of running away. Cut the risk of being eaten alive). The trilogy is the only movie I have in my PC and my iPhone. I watch it most evenings when I leave work, in the bus. I can never get bored of it! It's about time they come up with Jurassic Park IV. With the technology we have these days, I'm really looking forward to a more awesome Tyrannosaurus Rex!
